Suzanne Teng – now available in the Mood Palette

Suzanne Teng, is a flutist, recording artist, composer, endorsed artist for YAMAHA and teacher originally from Berkeley, California and currently residing in the Los Angeles area.  She received her master’s degree in music from Boston University’s School for the Arts and after traveling adventures across the globe, furthered her graduate studies at UCLA’s Department of Ethnomusicology where she completed the coursework for the Ph.D. focusing on music and healing.

Dedicated to creating healing music, Suzanne has performed her flute meditations at numerous major events with spiritual leaders and writers such as Thich Nhat Hanh, Marianne Williamson, Deepak Chopra, Mathew Whyte, and Amachi. Known for creating heartfelt and healing music, Al Martinez of the Los Angeles Times claims “Suzanne Teng plays music for the soul.”   She and her musical partner Gilbert Levy have composed music for yoga and acupuncture dvds, including works for well-knownyogis Gurmukh Khalsa, Yoga Fit and Ana Forrest and the documentary Raw for Life. They were selected by the pharmaceutical company Genentech to create a CD titledHealing Sounds which has been distributed for free to 50,000 cancer patients to be used during their healing treatments and was recently featured in Grammy.com magazine on an article on therapeutic music. Mystic Journey has also been featured performers in the World Festival of Sacred Music which was initiated by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Widely recognized for their critically acclaimed albums and crowd-pleasing performances, Suzanne Teng & Mystic Journey is also the winner of the 2007 Los Angeles Music Awards, the 2006 International Acoustic Music Awards (Instrumental Division) and the 2005 and 2001 Independent Music Awards (Best New Age Artist) and has received nominations from the Hollywood Music Awards, Just Plain Folks Awards, New Age Voice Awards, and a candidacy for a GRAMMY nomination for Best New Age album.

Called a “brilliant flutist” by the Los Angeles Times, she has appeared on national television, including musical performances on the Survivor II and XIV final episodes, which were viewed by over 70 million people.  Her composition Fertile Crescent was featured on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, her music has been heard on countless radio programs worldwide (ranking #3 on the New Age charts) and she has been featured on Public Radio International three times. In performance and on recordings, Suzanne plays flute, alto, bass and contrabass flutes, piccolo, flutes from China (dizi, bawu and hu lu se)dizi, Turkish ney and zurna, Indian bansuri, Indonesian suling, panpipes, recorders, pennywhistles, the Native American flute, ocarinas, flutes from Africa (fulani) and Eastern Europe (dvoyanka) and Egyptian double reed instruments (mijwiz, argul) as well as percussion and voice.
